On a dry bright morning 14 ramblers set off from the historic town of Burford, passing the magnificent "wool church" and across the medieval bridge spanning the river Windrush. Walking on through Fulbrook we struck off towards Swinbrook, turning west after Pains Farm we lunched in a pretty valley out of the wind.
After lunch we continued on along the beautiful valley named "Deans Bottom" to the isolated church of St. Oswald in the abandoned medieval village of Widford. The church dates from the 13th C. and contains some rare medieval wall paintings. We made our way back to Burford following the banks of the river Windrush.
Coffee and cake were enjoyed post walk.
