It seemed that the rain had not stopped for weeks and as the weather forecast for Sunday 15th February got from bad to worse I received several messages from walkers saying they had changed their mind about coming out that morning. When I pulled into the council car park I was pleasantly surprised to find Richard waiting for me and keen to get going. Together we set off to Seven Springs and as no other walkers joined us we decided to attempt a shorter walk, starting at Upper Coberly and doing a loop that would take in both sides of the Churn valley. As it turned out we had a fabulous walk! Once the initial rain and wind had dropped we had lovely views across the valley, came across plenty of snowdrops, streams and ‘winter borne’ springs that emerge from fields and embankments. We had a comfy coffee break and were back home, safe and dry, by lunchtime.
The full version of this walk will be offered again in the spring.
