On an overcast but thankfully dry morning 5 Ramblers set out for a 4.5 mile leisurely walk from Westonbirt along the Monarch’s Way towards Tetbury.  With easy walking across pastureland but quite a few stiles, we reached the back of Highgrove and followed Longfurlong Lane.  We then cut across fields to the main road where we took a short break before heading to Doughton.  Doughton Manor was shrouded in scaffolding and plastic during the major renovation which is underway.  Passing in front of Highgrove (no we didn’t see The King – he was busy elsewhere), we headed down a track ending up by the Hare and Hounds Hotel, just in time to beat the rain.
