We 11 walkers met successfully by the covered reservoir on Culver Hill, Minchinhampton Common and made our way towards Whitfield Tump on the outskirts of Littleworth.
Having crossed a small road we headed across a grassy area down through a narrow wall gate and so on via an allowable access through a private garden.
We then joined a narrow road which led us to the back of the Bear Hotel and so crossed Bear Hill and made our way up a muddy track onto Rodborough Common with views of Woodchester Church.
We now veered right and before long located a small pine copse proudly displaying a plaque commemorating Robert Baden-Powell's visit to the common many years earlier. Just by chance there was a bench nearby so this is where we took a break.
We then descended on the nearby Rodborough Fort where we met a female walking group from Cheltenham while we followed the outer wall of the Fort round till we met the common again.
From here we started to make our way back heading towards a water trough and keeping abridge of a line of spacious dwellings.
We soon reconnected with the muddy track where one of our number took a slide but quickly recovered. We then took to the pavement by the main road on the other side of the Bear Hotel for awhile before finding the common again and drawing close to Amberley Ridge and a grassy walk to the other side of the reservoir and back to our vehicles.
Afterwards most of us took refreshment in the nearby Old Lodge Hotel where we once again met the Cheltenham walkers.
Although it was a dull day views were enjoyed across the Nailsworth Valley and of Doverow Hill.
