February 9th Bibury

On Sunday 9th February 11 Ramblers set off on a dull but dry day from Bibury to Coln St Aldwyns and round. From the layby at top of the hill, we soon turned right along a track which took us through a field and along and through some trees to pass the Bibury Cricket Ground, then on down to the bottom track, where we turned right and along, then up the hillside and took a left at the top to bring us out eventually into the large field with sheep in and a wood opposite. It was a very muddy track and most of us were glad of our walking poles. We went left along by the River Coln, continuing on its route to come out by the road bridge at Coln St Aldwyns. Out onto the road we took a sharp left along the tarmac drive and then right over a small bridge and up a grassed track to pass the Church and so to the Coln Stores and Cafe. We all sat in the garden in a Gazebo having a lovely hot drink and some very nice cake bought in the shop.

Having left the Cafe we walked down through the village and along the bottom, coming to the same bridge, we went back through the gate and took the left path up through the trees and continued along through 3 fields, 2 being very muddy indeed. When we came to the road we went a few yards then right down a track to eventually take a left down through the wood and out into the same field where the sheep were, we crossed back over the little wooden bridge and retraced out steps back past the Cricket ground to our cars.

Everyone thanked me for the walk stating it was a good work out getting through the muddy parts, but very enjoyable.
