Twenty members and one visitor on the walk, which started from the Bell Lane Car Park, next to the Common. The route was a straight line to the other end of the Common, passing the Bulwarks and the Golf Clubhouse. Mist in the valley denied us the usual views. Then the route turned right, another straight line walk to the War Memorial at Amberley, where we had a refreshment break.
The route continued to the far end of the Common, where we crossed the main road and started the return route on the far side of the Common.
At Burleigh we left the Common and walked down Brimscombe Hill slightly and then right onto quiet lanes. Finally came the only uphill on the walk, going up Besbury Lane to return to the start point.
The weather was ok for winter walking – cloudy and dry, apart from a hint of drizzle at the end.
