On a surprisingly nice day, after all the damp recently, 10 walkers (5 rambler members and 5 guests) set off from the Corinium Hotel in Gloucester Street for a 4¼ mile leisurely walk.
We headed down Barton Lane and round by the river where we enjoyed watching a kingfisher flitting along the river, along with ducks, and even a heron in the nearby field. We then went north walking in fields and tracks parallel to Gloucester Road, before heading up Baunton Lane and across the main road into the pretty village of Baunton. Here we saw a little egret in the flooded fields next to the river. After going gently uphill, we turned back towards Cirencester, enjoying lovely views across the Churn valley before returning to road walking, past the allotments and back to the Corinium Hotel, where some of us enjoyed refreshment before going our separate ways.

You don’t expect to see a lion looking at the snowdrops!
