The forecast was heavy rain and wind, both eventually arrived but we had most of the morning under a quiet grey sky. Seven walkers braved the muddy tracks of the River Leach valley through the verdant green fields where we caught a glimpse of deer (about 20), a buzzard and at least half a dozen red kites. The route took us to Macaroni Downs where, according to Mr Google, the elegant young men of 1750s London enjoyed horse racing.
The peaceful walk took us on to the East Leach Downs Organic Farm, we had a very pleasant lunch in the farm hub where we enjoyed home-made cake and purchased organic sausages.
The afternoon was wet so the consensus was to take the most direct route back to the village, where a slight diversion allowed us to cross the clapper bridge.
