On a pleasant Autumn day 12 Ramblers (10 from Cirencester and two guests one of whom was from the USA and currently working in Germany) did a five mile walk from Hailes Abbey. After crossing a field we had a climb on a quiet country road. Here we took a short break partially to recover from our exertions but also to admire the fantastic views. After crossing a couple of fields we then started to make our descent. This was through a wood and overgrown bracken and not the easiest of walking but some more good views. We all safely did the descent and after walking through more fields we reached the outskirts of Winchcombe. Here we took the path by the Isbourne River. This is one of only two rivers where the whole length travels North. The other is the more famous Nile. Here we stopped for refreshments. Our return to Hailes was a pleasant easy walk mainly flat with the odd up and down over fields. quiet roads and tracks. We all then went to Hayles Fruit Farm for coffee, tea and cake.
