Cirencester Ramblers

Five ramblers met at the Ewepen Buildings National Trust carpark and set off through the woods of the Sherborne estate. We then crossed the water meadows which were bone dry and headed towards the Windrush valley. The river was still carrying a good amount of water when we crossed it and as we walked along the eastern side of the valley enjoyed fabulous views. We had our lunch break under a large oak tree in Windrush village, observing wedding preparations in the village hall opposite. This is a very good year for blackberries and we took advantage of this as we returned to Sherborne along the eastern slope of the Windrush valley. The village deli and coffee shop was so inviting that we stopped for a little treat before returning to our cars on meandering paths through the woods of the Sherborne estate. A perfect walk for the summer season.
