On Sunday 17th May 8 walkers set off from Coln Rogers Church Car Park to complete a 5.5 mile walk. It was a lovely bright morning, we walked from the car park and took a left and down to the the River Coln, passing 2 lovely horses with their 4 week old foals, over the bridge and keeping on the lane to Winson, where we kept left past the Mill House and up the hill and left again into the heart of the village. At the footpath sign we went through the gate on left and over the River Coln once more. Keeping on the right-of-way through a gate and up the hillside of a large field leading to the top of Arlngton Downs valley, there were many horses in the bottom of the valley and even more cows with their calves all along the valley side, we walked along the top keeping away from them, then down the valley through a gate, through two more gates and up the hillside to nearly the top where had our lunch stop. We then took a left and up to the lane. Again turning left we carried on along the lane until we got to the track of The Salt Path, keepng on the track till we came to the Barn, we took a right into Calcot. Then going straight over at the cross roads down between the cottages to the field at the bottom, we crossed the field to a stile, once over the stile we followed the river on a narrow path back the Church Car Park and our cars.
Everyone thanked me for a lovely walk.
