10 walkers including Ted the leader walked from Woodbury Estuary car park. Through heathland, past a man- made lake (Squabmoor reservoir ), a result of past gravel extraction and now a nature reserve. Then on to ( Bystock
ponds) where otters/beavers live? We saw lots of fish but no otters. After a short break we carried on through heathland gorse and heather recovering from a previous fire. On over marshy ground via a boardwalk. Lunch was taken in a copse on a hill top with good views. Back via Woodbury Castle, the outer earth walls were still intact and good information boards. Across to the car park then a short walk to look out over the Exe estuary and the sea.
