On a sunny morning with damp conditions underfoot, 17 Ramblers set off for a 5-mile circular walk from Ampney Crucis Village Hall. They made their way up the picturesque main street to arrive at the Pound tree. From here they headed up a track, noting some new houses, to emerge at the top of Ashsteeple hill. The group then walked South-east, past Ernie Holders derelict farm, until they reached the Ridings Lane. Crossing the Lane the walkers took a grassy path to go around Hilcot End. After leaving the small hamlet, the group took a wet path across a large field before reaching the Ashbrook Lane.
The group then followed the narrow road down to the small village of Ampney St Mary, where a drinks break was taken. Afterwards the party then followed a well-used path towards Ampney St Peter.
After viewing the Gold painted post-box in the village they headed up past the old Rectory to join a grassy track and along the lane back to Dudley corner.
From here they went down the main street of Ampney Crucis to the Beech tree, where they turned down School Lane.
The Ramblers then visited the local herd of Alpacas before crossing fields back to the village hall for the AGM.
