On Sunday 2nd November a party of 11 Ramblers took part in a 5 mile walk with extensive views across open countryside in glorious sunshine.
The walk started in the village of Didmarton, and proceeded along a tarmac track past a row of attractive cottages and a chapel and graveyard, before passing a picnic area at Joyce’s Pool. We crossed the main road and continued along a lane for about half a mile before turning off on a footpath across fields towards Field Barn.
We then continued along a track for about another half mile before reaching a country lane, where we turned towards the pretty village of Sopworth. After a lunch stop in Sopworth churchyard, we headed out of the village along a very muddy footpath which entered a field which was thankfully much less muddy.
We turned right across another large field before crossing a couple of paddocks, after which we entered Didmarton, re-crossing the main road and returned to the start of the walk.
