Seven Ramblers met in the early morning heat by the church in Sapperton and were immediately set on by swarms of tiny flies. One member was particularly overwhelmed and decided that a return home was the best option. So six walkers set off four members and two visitors.

The first couple of miles were in the shade of the woods and we then stopped for a drink and tried to reach a democratic decision on how far to walk. The forecast indicated a potential of 32 degrees so options were 5 miles, or 8 miles, or the original 10+ miles.  The consensus was to walk to The Giant's Stone, we arrived to find the stone lost in undergrowth. An interesting lecture on neolithic burial chambers in the Cotswolds 3800 - 3500 BC was cut short as no one was taking notes. We then found a perfect lunch spot under cherry trees. During the return to Sapperton the heat increased and  there was further discussion on the best route plus dodgy map reading.

We finally made it back to the cars having walked 9 miles.
