On a bright sunny Wednesday morning five walkers including a visitor from another group, starting on the edge of Cricklade at the car park by the rugby club and walking alongside the river on the Thames Path, which goes under the A419 dual carriageway. After 900 metres we crossed the river on a wooden footbridge and walked through two fields, where the ridges and humps denote the site of the now abandoned village of Eysey.
After crossing a footbridge over Ampney Brook, we continued northwards on the towpath for the Thames and Severn Canal, with the overgrown canal on the right and a working quarry to the left, with A419 beyond. We crossed A419 on the road bridge, and on the other side walked very briefly on the pavement alongside A419, before taking a short footpath to the left to enter North Meadow Nature Reserve, where we had a brief break, reading the information boards
The return route was across the southern end of North Meadows, which was full of summer yellow flowers, and then footpaths on the edge of Cricklade, passing through Hallsfeild Field
We concluded with refreshments at The Cricklade Club
