Eleven ramblers, including a visitor from South Cotswolds set off from St Mary’s church in Great Bedwyn. Crossing the railway line we followed the tow path along the Kennet and Avon canal - a mooring for many barges. A coffee stop at Crofton Beam Engine Pumping House with smoke billowing from the tall chimney today. Taking the path across fields alongside Wilton Water to the village of Wilton with its picturesque pond, friendly emus and a black pig.
Carrying on along the road our lunch stop was at Wilton Windmill. Then a change of scenery taking the path through woodland to return across fields to our starting point. The walk ended at an excellent find - Bedwyn Barista.
