The Ramblers quiz was held on Wednesday 15th November and 34 ramblers, family and friends gathered at Ampney Crucis village hall for a evening of fun with a quiz run by Kathryn an Steve Meredith.
The evening could have started badly as Steve announced the bad news that the sponsers had pulled out at the last moment and unfortunately the first prize was no longer a Mediterranean cruise for four people but now just a box of chocolates and the prestige and bragging rights of winning. Luckily nobody minded and all stayed for a fun social evening.
The eventual winners were the ‘Smarties’ team but they didn’t have it all their own way as the lead changed hands several times over the evening. At the end of round 2 ‘Lust for life’ took the lead with ‘Smarties’ in the last place.
‘Smarties’ had a good third round on the subject of music and having played their joker went from last position to first.
The fourth round saw ‘Lakeland Ramblers take the lead after questions regarding Gloucestershire and playing their joker.
A round on Birds saw ‘Lakeland Ramblers’ maintain first position, but a perfect score in the sixth round on Birds saw ‘Smarties’ retake the lead. A position they held to the end of the evening with good scores on Drinks, Funny Questions and Living Years.
The evening ended with a raffle which sent everybody, who arrived with an unwanted Christmas present, home with a wanted valentines present.
