Cirencester Ramblers

On Sunday 3rd December 46 members and guests had a most enjoyable day at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, which at the time was also hosting a Victorian Christmas Market.  The group left Cirencester by coach at 8am and arrived at the dockyard at 10am.  There were all the usual attractions like the Mary Rose Museum, although this had been much improved since our visit in 2015.  We also had the opportunity to explore HMS Victory, HMS Warrior, HMS M.33 and The National Museum of  the Royal Navy. The harbour cruise, provided excellent views of the new Queen Elizabeth aircraft carrier which is due to be commissioned on 7 December.  In amongst the market stalls were many entertainers in Victorian costume.  We left the dockyard at 4.30pm arriving back in Cirencester at 7pm. Thanks to Ellisons Coaches and to their driver Steve for a safe and comfortable journey.
