Cirencester Ramblers

September 17th Wyck Rissington

On Sunday 17th September 20 Ramblers left Wyck Rissington walking past the church and turning right by Lodge House, through the woods to reach the A424. Crossing the road took us up near Hill Farm to the very smart village of Icomb with still lots of flowers in bloom. We left Icomb by the Church. Continuing into woods we went uphill to Church Westcote where lunch was taken in a garden with a wonderful view of the countryside by kind permission of Mr Michael McIntyre (not the famous comedian!).

Leaving the garden we walked up through the village turning left to the church at Westcote, reading the history of a Convent opposite from 1929 to 1969, now cottages.  The route continued to Gawcombe Farm where turning left along the Oxfordshire Way we crossed the A424 once more to turn left by Wyck Beacon Farm to return to Wyck Rissington.
