Cirencester Ramblers

August 2nd Tetbury

Braving the rain showers and wind 6 members and 2 guests set off from the centre of Tetbury for a 4 mile evening walk on Wednesday 2nd August. Dropping down under Bath Bridge we headed out of Tetbury turning off along Grange Lane on a route towards the Estcourt Estate and the Shipton Moyne road. We watched deer racing across the fields while the cattle were keeping a very wary eye on us! After heading up the road we again turned off across the fields towards Doughton with good views of the Manor House before turning back to Tetbury with its church spire visible in the distance. After crossing the Westonbirt road we headed once again across the fields, through a couple of wooded areas (where a torch proved helpful in the gloom!) to Longfurlong Lane and the welcome call of a hostelry in the main street for a convivial and dry end to the evening.

Leaving Tetbury "underneath" the Bath road

On the Shipton Moyne road at Under Bridge

Through the gloom we catch a glimpse of the 17thC Doughton Manor

For much of the walk we could see the spireof St Mary the Virgin in Tetbury

Some of the wildlife was too quick to photograph but domesticated creatures were more obliging
