On Sunday 5th March 18 members and guests set off on a 6 mile walk from Mutters Moor near Sidmouth. We set off walking around the moor on a stone track before descending through the woods on a permissive path to Passaford Lane, an ancient sunken track. On reaching the lane by Passaford Farm we headed towards Otterton until we reached a path down to the River Otter, which we crossed on a footbridge. We continued alongside the river, stopping for a short coffee break, before crossing again by the next footbridge.
We now headed uphill on a series of very wet and muddy farm tracks, locally given the status of lanes, until we reached the SW Coast Path near High Peak. With splendid views across the countryside and a brief view of the coastline we continued on the coast path to Peak Hill. In making our way back to Mutters Moor several of us discovered the slippery steep ups and downs of the coast path had to be taken carefully if you wanted to stay upright!
