Cirencester Ramblers

January 29th Colesbourne

Seven intrepid walkers set out from Colesbourne anticipating wet weather on this 11 mile walk. Right on time, as forecast by the Met Office, the rain started just as we reached the top of the climb to Balburrow Wood. Undaunted we continued through Upper Coberley, slipping down through woods near the site of the lost Medieval Village. The original plan had been to look at the tomb of Dick Wittington's parents but by the time we arrived at St Giles church in Coberley we were far too wet and muddy to go inside. So on we went, a brief respite of the rain gave us an opportunity to stop for lunch overlooking Coldwell Bottom.

Further on we stopped briefly in Coley Wood to have an in depth conversation about the merits of various supermarket long life bags. Then on to pass by the Green Dragon at Cockleford and back to Colesbourne.
