On Sunday 21st August 11 members set off from Critchford Lane, nr Guiting Power on a nine and a half mile route. The walk started down the valley leading to a lane taking us to the centre of the village. Proceeding through we turned right along a lane leading to Hawling Lodge with the Church on our left, where we stopped and had our coffee break, looking at the good views.
We then walked on the Windrush Way just near to the site of what once was a Medieval Village, continuing on to our lunch stop. Even though the sun had not come out the wheat fields and countryside beyond was a lovely picture.
We carried on past Roel Hill Farm to a lane then soon turned right into the edge of Guiting Woods, then with the sun brightening we came out to a gravel lane and turned left continuing out of the woods to a track that took us into Kineton, where we all decided a drink at the local pub, Half Way House would be very welcome. After 45 minutes we continued up the lane turning right the eventually right again taking us down to Castlett Farm, with another right and left taking us back to our start.
Everyone said how much they enjoyed the walk and hope it is put back on the programme sometime in the future.
Lunch stop, near Guiting Woods and looking back towards Guiting Power in the far distance.
