Cirencester Ramblers

July 17th Nailsworth Valleys

On Sunday 17th July 19 Ramblers met to enjoy a warm sunny walk from Nailsworth to Avening and back. We began by walking up Tetbury Lane, glimpsing views of Horsley from the top. Turning our back on the local valleys, we walked through several hayfields, filled with wild flowers and butterflies. Descending into Avening we walked through the village, before climbing into the cool of Hazel Wood and its muddy bridle paths.

Emerging from the woods we eventually came to a field of young cattle, much to the delight of Sally in her open toed sandals! Further down we stopped for lunch and to enjoy the views towards Box on the other side of the valley. Soon we were on our way down again and back into Nailsworth after an enjoyable 6 mile walk.
