8th May Rissington Sampler

Sunday May 8th was a warm sunny day when 24 walkers including two guests , did a five and a half mile walk, starting from Bourton on the Water, and then to Rissington Mill on a path between two lakes. The route then crossed a field before a short uphill path to the church at Little Rissington. The group rested here to reflect on the losses at RAF Little Rissington, remembered by the stained glass west window and the neat rows of plain white headstones ranged about a tall cross.

The route back started on a bridleway down to Wyck Rissington and continued along the long central village green of about half a mile from end to end. A rest was taken by the pond on the green. Then we returned to the start along the Gustav Holst Way and The Oxfordshire Way. The countryside and distant views were wonderful in the full sun.
