Cirencester Ramblers

2015 Village Visits

These are monthly "Village Visits" for retired members.  They usually meet middle of the week, middle of the month for a meal and social get together. Different folk organise them at a favourite pub or restaurant, often in a village where we have walked in the past. Where possible, travel is by bus from Cirencester – remember to bring your bus pass. They do not meet in December or January.

Any members of Cirencester Ramblers, and their friends, are welcome to join us on any of our outings. If you are interested in joining, please phone Bill Irving on 01285 650012.

Photos from recent Village Visits in 2015:

Cirencester retired ramblers and friends meeting for lunch at the Clock Tower, Charlton Kings,Cheltenham on 24th November. Fewer than usual folk attending because of colds, holiday trips and family visits.

On  Friday 18th September eleven retired Ramblers and friends had a most enjoyable lunch together in Gateway Centre at South Cerney, a very busy venue.   As we were unable to prebook a table we were grateful to Roy Shepherd, the first to arrive, for organising the furniture so we could all sit together!

On Thursday 13th August retired Ramblers and friends met for a very pleasant lunch at The Tavern Inn at Kemble. Many thanks to Charlie and Val for organising it. Norman and Lucy had just returned from celebrating their 60th Wedding Anniversary with family in Norway. They entertained us with stories of their trip and astounding us with the prices they had paid for food and drink in their hotel in Stavanger.

There were eleven of us today Wednesday 22nd July the retired Ramblers and friends at The White Hart in Cricklade.
A very good meal with good company as usual.

There were 16 retired Ramblers and friends who met today, June 17th, for a GWR train journey from Cheltenham Race Course Station. Two more friends joined us for an excellent meal at The Pheasant at Toddington. A great, and noisy, time was had by all.  It was good to be joined by members who had not been with us before. There is nothing like a ride on a steam train in the Cotswold countryside. The weather was kind to us too. We travelled to Winchcombe after lunch for afternoon tea in that station's 1950's style cafe before returning to the Race Course.

May 14th, 13 retired Ramblers and friends meeting for lunch at AV8 with a visit to the Control Tower for the 'boys' to see the 'toys'. Our thanks to the Tower staff for making us welcome and answering all our questions

April 9th, Eleven Village Visitors at The Plough at Stratton today. Some were shy!

March, 9 members and guests made a "Village Visit" to Lechlade Garden Centre where they enjoyed a social gathering over lunch and a walk around the various garden and shop displays

February 18th. We met at The Clock Tower at Charlton Kings for lunch.
