Cirencester Ramblers

Blenheim Palace Visit, May 7th 2017

23 members and guests had a day out at Blenheim Palace and Park in glorious Spring sunshine. During the morning the group took the opportunity to view the palace and gardens. The palace has a Churchill Exhibition, telling the story of his life from his unexpected birth at Blenheim to his death. The tour continues around many of the lavishly decorated rooms. Upstairs there was another tour which tells the story of Blenheim with many humorous touches.

Outside of the palace there were various formal and informal gardens to enjoy. The group could take their pick of short several walks, taking in the Great Lake to the Cascades and back past the many other features.

Then at 2.00 pm 19 members went on a 5 mile walk of the park, which owes much of its beauty to the landscaping of Capability Brown some 300 years ago. See the separate report under Walk Reports for details and photos.
